The sculpture is a free copy after Johan Tobias Sergel's composition from 1780 depicting Ulla von Höpken which is a monumental statue at the National Museum in Stockholm. Sergel's statue is inspired by Venus Kallipygos, which is an ancient Roman statue , today n the collections of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli in Italy. This sculpture in turn is believed to be a copy of a lost ancient Greek bronze statue from the 300s.
