Provenance

This coat is of Sandys. Of this family was the family of Sandys of the Vine, created barons in 1529 when Sir William Sandys led part of the army sent to France with the Earl of Surrey. A Captain Sandys commanded the East India man Norfolk in 1764, which brought back a considerable quantity of chinaware as private trade.
