More information

At this autumn’s Contemporary Art & Design auction Bukowskis is honoured to present several unusual print works by the Pop Art icon Roy Lichtenstein. The works stretch from the 1960s up until the 9190s. From the very beginning, Lichtenstein was fascinated by how different techniques and printing methods could capture his artistic vision. Like many of his contemporaries, Lichtenstein explored where the line between ‘reproduction’ and ‘original work’ could be drawn; challenging the traditional idea of what counted as authentic work.

ichtenstein began his career as an artist taking inspiration from the aesthetics of comic books, however throughout his life he experimented with many different styles. The collaboration with G.E.L. in California made a big impact on his production of prints; helping him to explore new possibilities and techniques that led to him creating print editions that today are sought-after across the world.
