"Konkretismen är uppkallad efter 1920-talets l'art concret. Vid tidpunkten för Ung konst i april 1947 var det inte tal om någon konkret konst. Redan ett drygt år senare var situationen en annan. Inte bara Lennart Rodhe, Pierre Olofsson, Karl Axel Pehrson och Olle Bonnier räknades till de konkreta, där fanns även Nils Nixon, Einar Lynge-Ahlberg, Eric Lennarth, Bengt Orup och Gert Marcus. Nu skall jag direkt säga att Lennart Rodhe aldrig var någon renodlad konkretist, men i den samtida konstdiskussionen betraktades han som en konstnär inom denna nya falang."
