Modellen med kombinerad vaxstapelfot och elddon finns med i Wedevågs första priskuranter från 1724 och 1726 med titeln: "Waxstapelfot med lås att slå eld med" alternativt "Waxstapels Fot medpistollås". Auktionens exemplar kan med utgångspunkt av den nyklassiska dekorationen i form av en urna dateras till 1700-talets senare del och visar att modellen förblev i stort oförändrad om man jämför med exemplaret från 1720-talet i Wedevågs bruksmuseum.
