Artist

Yrjö Edelmann is a finnish/swedish visual artist born in Helsinki. Eedelmann studied at the Arts Academy in Stockholm. Early in his career, the artist was an illustrator for comicbooks and book covers. Ever since his artistic debut in his 30s, Eedelmann has worked with oil and graphics. Edelmann has, amoung other places, exhibited in New York, Tokyo, and Paris. His painting are illusionistic with a light colour scheme influenced by American photorealism. He is known for his very distinctive trompe-l'œil motifs, where his superrealistic motifs with crumbled paper, envelopes, and tissues have gained international acclaim. He made his debut in 1973.
