Screenprint in colours, 1967, signed with initials and dated -67 in pencil. Trimmed circa 7 cm along the the left side, numbering on verso therefore missing. Printed by Aetna Silkscreen Products, Inc./Du-Art Displays, New York, published by Factory Additions, New York, 91 x 84.5 cm.

The complete series Marilyn, consisting of 10 screenprints in different colour variations, was acquired by the founder of the legendary denim brand Gul & Blå, Lars Knutsson, and his wife Maria Knutsson directly from Andy Warhol. Warhol was in Stockholm in connection with his first major retrospective exhibition at the Moderna Museet. When he visited Gul & Blå's store, he was captivated by their pop-inspired fashion and convinced them to exchange clothes for the iconic Marilyn motif, which ultimately led to the entire series of 10 color schemes ending up in the possession of Lars and Maria Knutsson. The aesthetics and store decor were a major part of Gul & Blå's brand, and the series was intended to be displayed on a wall in the store. Each piece in the series was numbered 6/250, but in order for them to fit together, some of them were trimmed, including the auctions lot, where the numbering has been cut off.
