Bukowskis is delighted to present Important Winter Sale, the season's largest quality auction spanning all time periods and genres featuring the best of the best within art, furniture, works of art, carpets and jewellery. Highlights include significant works by Anders Zorn, Bruno Liljefors and Carl Larsson, furniture by Haupt and several impressive private collections of jewellery, silver and Asian works of art.

The giants Anders Zorn, Carl Larsson and Bruno Liljefors are amply represented in the catalogue. Highlights from Anders Zorn include several significant works, including "Flottar Maja" and "Märta" where you can clearly see his masterful ability to depict the movements of the water. In the painting "Loftsängen" we also see great examples of how Zorn manages to depict the light in the interior. Read more

The giants Anders Zorn, Carl Larsson and Bruno Liljefors are amply represented in the catalogue. Highlights from Anders Zorn include several significant works, including "Flottar Maja" and "Märta" where you can clearly see his masterful ability to depict the movements of the water. Carl Larsson is represented with the significant work " Sommardag, Karin och Brita i trädgården”/Sommartid ", which adorned the invitation card to Victoria & Albert's exhibition Carl and Karin Larsson: Creators of the Swedish Style in London 1997 – included in the Important Winter Sale with a presale estimate of 6-8 million SEK. Another highlight by Carl Larsson is the watercolour "Dom spritar ärter" / "Ärtspritning" from 1908.

Bruno Liljefors is represented with a total of 19 works that show proof of the artist's greatness. The painting "Katt i sommargrönska", dated 1884 in Qvarnbo, is a captivating painting with a kitten curiously sitting in a summer landscape. A more monumental painting is " Ruvande ejder " from 1903.

Within the classic Swedish artworks we also find several significant works by Carl Fredrik Hill, Eugène Jansson, Gustaf Fjaestad and Ivan Aguéli. The top lot within the classical international department is "Faded Laurels", a Pre-Raphaelite work by Edmund Blair Leighton. In the older international art section, we see several works with interesting provenance, including "King David & Abigail" attributed to Matthijs Voet and "Temptations of St. Anthony" attributed to David Teniers. Within prints & multiples, we find Andy Warhol's "Venus" from 1984, the catalogue also contains contemporary Swedish names such as Lars Lerin, Karin Broos and Denise Grünstein, as well as sought-after sculptures by Carl Milles, Arvid Knöppel, Gudmar Olovson and others.

Highlights from the furniture department, include pair of cupboards by Georg Haupt with unbroken provenance since their creation around 1780, now sold at auction for the very first time. The department also offers a wonderful commode and an unusual marquetry box with a cover by Haupt. The department also offers a suite of furniture from “Grå salongen” at Odensviholm, and an impressive collection of mantle clocks, as well as an interesting collection of boxes.

The silver and Objects of Vertu department offers a wide range of objects, from Gustavian candlesticks to baroque tankards and rococo sugar bowls. The department opens with a fantastic collection that includes a silver-gilt cup by Johan Nützel, other highlights include a Rococo coffee pot by Zacharias Ekfelt in Arboga and an exquisite selection of Objects of Vertu, including two gold boxes by Frantz Bergs from the mid-18th century.

An extensive carpet department offers an antique Safavid "Spiral vine" from the middle of the 17th century and an antique Lahore in "Shah Abbas" pattern with flowering trees. The department also contains several "Verdure" tapestries with featuring landscapes, hunting motifs and birds.

On December 14, 1896, four gentlemen gathered in Stockholm's Enskilda bank's notary department at Lilla Nygatan 27 on the occasion of the opening of the recently deceased Alfred Nobel's will and testament. The will eventually ended up in the Nobel Foundation's safe, while notary Löfgren came to keep the envelope, personally initialled and signed by Alfred Nobel, with accompanying protocol duplicate as a memory of this historic December day. These unique documents have since been passed down and cared for by notary Löfgren's heirs, until today when they are offered at auction for the first time.

The jewellery section presents jewellery of different types and expressions from different eras, highlights include outstanding pieces by WA Bolin, Cartier and two Van Cleef & Arpels brooches in 18K gold with round brilliant-cut diamonds. Within the jewellery department, there is also a private collection of jewellery with provenance from the Broström shipping family - the highlight of the collection is a platinum necklace with cabochon-cut emeralds.

Finally, we are proud to present our Asian section which contains objects from several significant private Scandinavian collections of ceramics, cloisonné, jade, "scholars objects", textiles and Chinese furniture. Highlights include a large gilt bronze Bodhisattva from the Ming Dynasty, with provenance Hedi Boyce Broström, a porcelain Bodhisattva with the Yongzheng mark and a high-quality range of imperial porcelain, including a yellow bowl with exquisite decoration in the form of green five-clawed dragons and phoenix birds with the seal mark of Daoguang. Within porcelain, we also see an elegant vase in blue and white from the Qing Dynasty and a jardiniere with five-clawed dragons fighting for the flaming pearl amid cloud formations and foaming waves.
