A so called "Kriegskasse". Of rectangular form. Decorated throughout with iron bands and polychrome foliate and scrollwork painting. The front with a false lockplate and painted scenes of landscapes and a ship at sea, probably executed after etchings after Willem van de Velde II, the lid with a concealed keyhole, enclosing a lock shooting eight bolts and a pierced steel lockcase engraved with grotesques and scrollwork. Length 63, width 40, height 36 cm. Two keys included.
