More about Arvid Fougstedt

Arvid Fougstedt was a Swedish artist. Fougstedt is the most typical representative of the "New Objectivity's". He travelled to Paris without an education in 1908, where he distanced himself from modernism and strove for realism, which he taught himself by copying previous masters. It wasn't until ten years later when he returned to Sweden, where he introduced his new style through his debut exhibition in 1919. His visual language is based upon clear lines and his motifs are greatly inspired by his home and family, which establishes a comforting aura down to the smallest details.
