More information

The Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 is an iconic dive watch, introduced in the late 1960s as the first Submariner to feature a date function. The earliest versions of the 1680 were produced with the highly sought-after "Red Submariner" dial, where the model name appears in red – a distinctive feature that makes these variants particularly desirable among collectors. Over the years, six different versions of the red text were produced, known as "Mark I-VI," each with subtle differences in font style and printing technique.

This particular watch features a Mark VI dial, the final iteration of the "Red Sub," distinguished by its closed sixes in "660 ft" and a more rounded "S" in "Submariner", compared to earlier versions where the "S" had a sharper, more angular design.

Powering the watch is the Rolex caliber 1575, an evolution of the 1570 movement, enhanced with a date function.
