a glass sculpture, Iittala, Finland, ca 1964-67.

Slightly yellowed glass mass, blown in a wooden mould, signed TIMO SARPANEVA. Dimensions ca 35 x 35 cm, height ca. 47 cm.

Insignificant edge nicks underneath.

Provenance

The silversmith Rosa Taikon (1926-2017).
Reportedly obtained directly from Sarpaneva, who stated that it was made in two examples, a commissioned work where the first was intended as a gift from the Finnish state to Queen Elizabeth II.
