Four-sided base, wave-shaped rim, black decoration against a white background, acid-etched signature venini murano. Height 32 cm.

Provenance

The present vase was a wedding gift in 1960, likely acquired in Stockholm in November 1959 at the Nordiska Kompaniet memorial exhibition for the late Paolo Venini, who passed away earlier that same year.

Exhibitions

The model was first presented in 1954 at the 27th Venice Biennale.

Designer

The Italian glass artist Paolo Venini was one of the leading figures in the production of Murano glass. He is known for having founded the eponymous Venini & C. glassworks.
