"En målning från 1952, Stolen, har en särskild historia. Den föreställer en stol med en vinflaska liggande på sitsen. Skager hade åkt till Aix en Provence för att se vad Cézanne hade sett och måla hans landskap på samma sätt. I fyra månader stod han i det hyrda huset i en liten bergsby och stirrade på stolen med vinflaskan. när han for hem till Göteborg var en målning och några teckningar av denna stol det enda han hade i bagaget..."
