A pair of iron-red decorated 'bats' dishes, Qing dynasty, Guangxu mark and period (1875-1908).

Each with a central roundel enclosing five inwards facing bats, within a border of twelve bats in flight, the exterior with 12 further iron-red bats, underglaze blue mark to the base. Diameter 15.6 cm.

Rimcracks, retouched fritts to rim.

Provenance

Property of a private collector, who purchased it at auction in Holland in 2013.
