A triple-case pocket watch by Edward prior (watchmaker in London 1800-68) for the Turkish market.

The outer case of 'faux tortoise' and gilded brass, the Turkish white enamel dial signed 'Edward / Prior / London', pierced balance cock and pillars, the engraved movement plate signed and numbered 69717. The inner case with casemaker's mark 'W.C.S.' Height c. 50 mm.

Edward Prior (c. 1800-1868) was a reputable watch and clock maker in London. His designs are known as being targeted for the Turkish market as evidenced by his use of multiple cases, a feature which was popular in Turkey at the time.
