More information

Anna Palm de Rosa (1859-1924) was a Swedish artist known for her evocative watercolours, particularly of maritime subjects and cityscapes. She came from an artistic family and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.

In 1884 and 1885, Palm de Rosa visited Skagen in Denmark - a place that attracted many Nordic artists at the time. There she came into contact with the prominent group of Skagen painters, which included names such as P.S. Krøyer and Anna Ancher.

Although her stay in Skagen was relatively short, it was all the more significant. She was strongly influenced by the peculiar light and the creative community that characterised the place. Although she is not considered a central member of the group, her works from this period show a clear influence of both the landscape of Skagen and its artistic atmosphere.
