More information

Paul-Édouard Delabrièrre was born in 1829 in Paris. He originally studied to become a painter under Jean-Baptiste Delestre, but began exhibiting his sculptures in 1848. Delabrièrre was known for sculpting in wax, plaster, and terracotta, but his most appreciated works were his detailed bronzes. As one of the 19th century's most prominent animal sculptors, Delabrièrre's most important work is L’Équitation, which adorns the façade of the Louvre in Paris.
