More information

Michael Joseph (b. 1941) grew up in South Africa, where his father was a leader in the Anti-Apartheid Movement. While a student at the London College of Printing, he travelled to Vietnam to take photographs. After college, Joseph became a successful advertising photographer and conducted the two-day shoot for The Rolling Stones’ Beggars Banquet album in 1968. Shot at Sarum Chase and Swarkestone, those scenes of gluttony featured a cat, three dogs, a sheep, and a goat, as well as the five band members.
