More information

The Rolling Stones' European tour in 1970 stopped in 18 cities. Some of the concerts were surrounded by riots and clashes between police and fans, including in Hamburg and Berlin. The concert at Råsunda Stadium in Stockholm on September 4 was interrupted by the police, who feared that the fans, provoked by Jagger, would storm the stage. The singer reacted by pointing the microphone at the police on stage and immediately afterwards suggested that the audience sit down during the next song (the slower “Love in Vain”). The week before, they had played at Baltiska Hallen in Malmö, the only city where the song “Gimme Shelter” was performed.
During the tour, the Rolling Stones consisted of the following members: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts.
