Georg Jensen was a Danish silversmith and designer. Jensen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, focusing on sculpture. Before starting his own business, he worked at the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain factory. He founded his silversmithy in 1904, where many works in the Art Nouveau style were created. The company Georg Jensen Silversmithy opened a branch on Fifth Avenue in New York City in 1924. The company has often had designers associated with it, such as Sigvard Bernadotte, Arne Jacobsen, and Verner Panton. During the 1960s and 1970s, sculpturally designed jewellery and wristwatches were included in the range, designed by, among others, Vivianna Bülow-Hübe. Georg Jensen has always sold high-quality silver items with unique design. Pure and timeless aesthetics are the hallmarks of the company.
