Harald Lyth studied at Konstindustriskolan in Gothenburg from 1955 to 1959, and then continued his education at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm from 1960 to 1965. Nearly a quarter of a century later, he became a professor at the same school. Lyth gained early attention for his abstract landscapes in the 1970s and achieved widespread public recognition in the late 1980s.
