A Japanese five-piece silver garniture, Asahi, early 20th century.

Marked 998. Asahi. Decorated with cherry blossom. Comprising: a hairbrush, length 23 cm, a mirror, 26 cm, a clothing brush, length 18 cm, a round box, diameter 9 cm, a rectangular box on a tray, length tray 19 cm.

Provenance

From the collection of Eskil (Viktor Sofokles) Ågren (1897-1969), site manager of Svenska Tändsticksaktiebolaget (Swedish Match) in Asia, the family lived in Shanghai and Kobe during the years 1927-1934. Manager of Västerviks tändsticks AB after the return to Sweden.
