A Swedish 18th century parcel-gilt silver tankard, mark of Thomas Beckman the younger (active 1727-1765), Örebro.

Cylindrical, standing on three ball feet. Rich Berain decor on the handle and the feet and an inset coin with king/memorial medal for King Charles XII on the lid. On the front of the coin: "CAROL•XII•D•G•R•SVEC•OCCVB•D•30•NOV•A•1718•". On the reverse: "INDOCILIS PATI • IN PERPET • MEMOR • MAGNANIMI •" Later engraving on the body in a cartouche under a crown: E.M.J and G.N.D 1823. Engraving on the handle: A.E.J and M.L.A.D. Underneath a presentation engraving: "This tankard was presented to William Francis Meyer by the Messrs Wellby October 17th 1910 as a token of their sincere regard and as a souvenir of friendship on his retiring from the firm after 50 years of sustained interest and faithful service". Height 19 cm. Weight approx. 1250 g.
