CF Carlman, or Carl Fredrik Carlman, founded his workshop in Stockholm in 1855 and quickly established a reputation as one of the country's most significant jewellers and silversmiths. His mark, CF CARLMAN, became known for high quality and solid craftsmanship, and the firm played an important role in the Swedish orders and medal tradition. The company evolved from a traditional jeweller's workshop to become the principal manufacturer of Sweden's royal order insignia, a mission that gave Carlman’s name a special status.
