Amethyst ca 17 X 1.3 mm, silver and 14K gold, brooch 40 X 35 mm, total weight 12.5 g, 19th century. According to family tradition, the brooch was part of a tiara.

Provenance

Ulrika von Stedingk (1767-1831) who was married to Curt von Stedingk (1746-1837). Curt von Stedingk was, among other things, active as an ambassador in St. Petersburg and had particularly close and friendly ties to the tsar's family. In Ulrika von Stedingk's estate inventory, there are several amethyst jewelry pieces that could potentially correspond to the piece that Bukowskis is selling.

More information

See Bukowskis previous auction 653 catalogue number 494, which is a brooch from the same tiara/jewellery.
