A "The Resting Tree" glass sculpture, ed. 3/6, Berengo Studio, Murano, Italy, 1997.
Figure in green-tinted glass leaning against a rounded formation in amber-brown glass, signed and numbered Mark Brusse 3/6. Height 36 cm, width 41 cm.
Mark Brusse was born in Alkmaar, Netherlands in 1937. He grew up in an artistic environment of journalists, writers, and actors, and spent much of his childhood in the war-torn Nijmegen. After his studies at the academy in Arnhem, the 23-year-old artist left his homeland in 1960 to settle in Paris, where he began his artistic career and adult life.
For Brusse, art is life and vice versa. His artistic life has taken him on many journeys around the world. There are few places he has not been, his enormous sculptures can be found in many locations, and he has been able to work wherever he has gone. He continues to work even today, whether in his studio in Paris or along the coast at the far tip of Brittany.
In 2009, Mark Brusse exhibited some glass sculptures made in Murano at his exhibition at the Fondation Custodia in Paris.
