Among the many portraits of small children that Strömholm encountered on his travels, this image of two small boys with handbags stands out. The two meet the photographer's gaze with a curious yet serious expression. The image is typical of Strömholm's many portraits of children, with a psychological depth characterised by loneliness and isolation that can perhaps be found in Strömholm's childhood.
"Paris, 1962" is one of Strömholm's most beloved motifs and has become iconic.
