Round with an indented rim, the exterior with texture, the interior smooth, partly glazed in reddish-brown and dark brown hues, marked in underglaze blue with the company's three waves, model number 22128, in green DENMARK and inscribed with the artist's signature. Height 7 cm, diameter 8.5 cm.
Melike Abasiyanik Kurtic was a Turkish ceramist. She graduated in 1955 from the Department of Arts and Crafts at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. She went on to study at Herman Kähler's factory in Næstved in 1963 and thereafter, from 1963 to 1966, she worked at Royal Copenhagen, and between 1967 and 1968, Kurtic studied glazes at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Thereafter, she worked with photography and other visual arts from the various places in Europe where she lived.
