More information

Founded in 1960, Grand Seiko was created with the ambition of proving that exceptional watchmaking was not the exclusive domain of Switzerland. From the outset, the brand focused on producing timepieces defined by technical refinement and meticulous craftsmanship.

Introduced seven years later, the 62GS ref. 6246-9001 marked an important milestone as the brand’s first automatic model. One of its most distinctive features is the crown positioned at four o’clock, a design choice that helps maintain a clean, symmetrical case profile while subtly highlighting the watch’s automatic winding system through its relative inaccessibility.

The 62GS was offered in versions displaying either the date or both the day and date at three o’clock, and it also featured a quick-set date function—an advanced and practical innovation for the time. Housed in a 36mm stainless steel case with crisp lines along the lugs and bezel, the model combines technical sophistication with an elegant design language. The result is a watch that not only reflects Grand Seiko’s mechanical ambitions but also its growing awareness of the importance of strong aesthetics in fine watchmaking.
