Brunius, Teddy "Lars Gynning: textila bilder. Les images sur textile de Lars Gynning", Kulturen, Lund, 1985, colour plate p. 10.
In "extila bilder. Les images sur textile de Lars Gynning" from 1985, the origin of the pattern is described as follows: "Lars Gynning was happy to have the opportunity to live in New York for a while in 1951. However, the stay became a disappointment. He felt trapped and wished that, like a bird, he could fly away from there."
Lars Gynning is the Swedish artist who had the greatest impact as a creator of patterns for woven wallpapers (tapestries) in France during the 20th century. After studying in Sweden and France, Gynning began collaborating with the famous company Pinton Frères in Aubusson during the 1940s. Around 250 tapasties were created after Gynnings designs. One of France's greatest textile starts Jean Lurçat is one of the artists who associated with and greatly inspired Gynning, the seed from which his own style grew.
