More information

Sven-Erik Högberg (1924–1997) was a prominent Swedish silversmith whose work is characterised by a subtle balance between form, function, and material sensibility. Born in Hammars parish in Örebro County, he trained in Stockholm from 1945 to 1947 and then continued his studies at the School of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg from 1947 to 1950, where he deepened his artistic expression. In 1952, Högberg established his own silversmith workshop in Gothenburg, where he would work for most of his life, often in close collaboration with his brother Anders Högberg. Alongside his own creative practice, he also served as a teacher at the School of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg during the years 1967–1968, where he contributed to passing on the traditions of silversmithing to a new generation. Högberg participated in numerous national and international craft exhibitions. His works can be found today in several significant collections, including the Nationalmuseum, Röhsska Museum, Värmlands Museum in Karlstad, and Bergen Museum. Bukowskis has the great honour of offering this unique collection, directly from Högberg's family. The items have never before been on the market, making this a rare opportunity to acquire works by a significant figure in Swedish craftsmanship.
