Eva and Hans Andersson Collection, acquired directly from the artist in her home in Moscow in 1970 when the Swedish diplomat Hans Andersson was stationed in Moscow.
Valentina Kropivnitskaya was deeply connected to the same artistic circles as her husband, the non-conformist artist Oskar Rabin, but developed a distinctive style of her own. The daughter of poet and artist Evgeny Kropivnitsky, she was part of the Lianozovo Group, an informal collective of artists and writers who gathered on the outskirts of Moscow. Her paintings often explored more lyrical and introspective themes, combining abstraction with delicate figurative elements. Kropivnitskaya’s work reflected a poetic sensibility, offering a quieter but equally powerful alternative to official Soviet aesthetics.
