The painting depicts a gathering of immortals with attendants in architectural setting all standing amongst scrolling clouds, wearing long robes and with distinctive individual faces. Below them a group of demons an humans. Measure motif 84x118 cm. Measure with frame 100x135 cm. Laid on panel.

Purchased from Gösta Montell (1899-1975), head of the Etnographic Museum 1954-1966. Montell took part on Sven Hedins expedition in Central Asia 1929-1933. He published three books; one about the Temple Yonghegong together with Ferdinand Lessing and one about the Mongols and another 'Amidst gods and people, memories of happy years in Peking'.
