A large well sculptured head of Guanyin, Ming dynasty (1368-1644).

With serene expression and downcast eyes, the hair pulled up in a high chignon, with attached headdress carved with a seated deity amongst scrolling foliage. Height 42 cm. Height with wooden stand 44 cm.

Given as a wedding gift to Stig och Ulla Nordfelt in 1970 by the collector Sten Nelson (born 1906).
