Anthonore Christensen, née Tscherning, also known as Anthonie Eleonore Christensen, was born in 1849 in Copenhagen. The Danish flower painter came from an artistic family, as both her mother and sister also were painters. Christensen's flower paintings are characterised by vegetation and flowers in their natural environment, in contrast to the more arranged flower still lifes of her time. The viewer is placed at the level of the floral splendour and invited to appreciate the beauty of nature in a richly detailed observation.
