During the summers of 1906 and 1907, Nils Kreuger stayed in Båstad, drawn by the magnificent landscape. In a letter to his friend Karl Nordström in July 1907, he wrote: "Hallandsås is magnificent and offers an incalculable number of motifs - one becomes almost dizzy from the abundance of good - and over the ridge often lie the most varying tones, deep and heavy with dragging dark clouds or with bright light haze ..."
