Two jade sculptures, late Qing dynasty.

One depicting a seated Guanyin with a boy in her lap, the stone in a olive green that shifts towards a russet brown. Height 7.2 cm. The second one depicting a boy carrying a lotus leaf, the stone of a pale celadon green where the lotus-leaf shifts towards a brown colour. Height 7 cm.

Natural inclusions and feathering to the stone.

Provenance

From the collection of Sylvia Hurtig (born Armstrong Morris) (1926-1996), thence by descent. The collection was brought together mainly in the 1960’s. Sylvia, born in England, Newscastle-on-Tyne, but living in Stockholm had a particular passion for jade and during her frequent visits to London she acquired the pieces from Christie’s, Sotheby’s as well as from Bukowskis and through the Swedish/Armenian antique dealer Solberger, Tegnérgatan, Stockholm.
