Math Bass is an American artist based in Los Angeles whose practice spans painting, sculpture, video and performance. Their work often features bold colours, geometric shapes and simplified symbols, combining familiar forms in unexpected ways. At first glance, the imagery may appear playful and straightforward, but the compositions resist fixed interpretations. Bass moves between abstraction and figuration, exploring how shapes and symbols can shift in meaning depending on their context. The works often blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture, creating a visual language that is both direct and open-ended.
