Hendl Helen Mirra (b. 1970) is an American artist whose distinctive practice brings together textiles, sculpture and conceptual art. Drawing on nature and walking as recurring points of departure, she creates works in which materials, landscapes and movement intersect. Through a considered visual language and a keen sensitivity to the qualities of her materials, Mirra combines craftsmanship with conceptual thinking to explore our relationship with time, place and the environment. Her work has been exhibited at prominent institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Berkeley Art Museum. In 2020, she was awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.
