The Swedish History Museum, Stockholm, “Primitive Arrangements”, 2023.
The Historical Museum’s exhibition “Primitive Arrangements” explored early forms of architecture and construction, as well as how people have historically joined materials to create structures with both practical and symbolic purposes. Nick Ross’s series of furniture draws inspiration from standing stones, Scandinavian boatbuilding techniques from the Bronze Age and Viking Age jewellery, among other sources, distilling these influences into simple compositions of materials and volume.
Nick Ross is a Scottish-Swedish designer. He studied at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and at Konstfack in Stockholm before establishing his own Stockholm-based studio in 2014.
