After more than ten years living in London and graduating from Central St Martins College of Art, along with work experience in London's design industry, she started her studio in Sweden in 2005. Hilland has collaborated with several of Sweden's most well-known and prestigious design companies, including Orrefors, Konsthantverk, IKEA, Gemla, Design House Stockholm, and Svenskt Tenn. In 2018, she launched her brand, Mylhta, in close collaboration with the retailer NK Inredning, Nordiska Kompaniet. Over the years, Hilland has received numerous prestigious awards and honors. Among them are awards like Furniture of the Year 2013 for the Bow Chair from Residence Magazine Awards, Designer of the Year 2013 from Plaza Magazine Awards, Laurits Icon Award 2017 for the Bow Sofa, Furniture of the Year 2019 for both the Anno cabinet from Sköna hem and the Mylhta stool from Form Award, Svensk Form. Additionally, Hilland was awarded Plaza Magazine's Sustainability Honorary Prize for the Spira series in 2021.
