Panta Rei

Everything is in constant change; that is the fundamental idea. Both we and the world; both in the small and the large; both intellectually and materially. In a figurative sense, all things flow—though in different ways. Constellations, groupings arise, break apart, and new contexts are formed—and we with them. Moreover, water is a significant image in this way of thinking, at least as a metaphor for continual change—the river, the stream, or the sea.
