Artek

Artek was founded in 1935 to promote modern design and make it more visible and commercially accessible. The company was founded by Maire Gullichsen, Alvar and Aino Aalto, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Initially, Artek focused on the sale and exhibition of furniture designed by Alvar Aalto, but early on the selection was expanded to include products from other manufacturers as well. Today, Artek’s range includes furniture, lighting, and interior design objects created by both leading Finnish designers and internationally renowned designers. Artek is a pioneer of timeless design, where aesthetics, functionality, and the beauty of everyday life meet naturally in objects that withstand time and use from generation to generation.
