Lemholt N’ Bergman – Portraits

In this themed auction, we encounter the artistic duo Lemholt N’ Bergman, comprising photographer Hannah Lemholt and stylist Sara Nilsson Bergman. Together, they create visual worlds in which timeless and contemporary references and techniques are contrasted and combined to form a dreamlike and poetic whole. The works in this auction were commissioned in 2017 for a restaurant and hotel business on the Kullahalvön peninsula in southern Sweden. The series consists of five different portraits, each produced in two sizes, one in colour and the other in sepia tones.

In these works, Lemholt and Bergman draw on the visual language of court portraiture, reinterpreting it through everyday and ephemeral materials. The result retains the historical dignity conveyed through the poses, formats and embellishments, while introducing a modern and unexpected materiality – a subtle nod to both the food and fashion industries.
