Per Stenius – abstract and cubistic theme auction
Discover a curate theme auction with the Finnish artist Per Stenius. Stenius was born in Helsingfors and studied at the Fria Konstskolan in the end of the 1940s. He also did several study tours to South Europe and India. Already his first separate exhibition in 1950 demonstrated him as a gradated master both within images of refined motifs of the nature along with more abstract ones, often cubistic influenced compositions. Stenius also appertain to the very first painters who worked entirely abstract in Finland, even though he never really recognized himself to belong to any genre; the only thing he tries to follow according to himself, is the ”harmony of the universal laws”. The motifs often consists of street views with figures and landscapes executed in a nuanced but moderated spectrum, which intermittently border to the informal and which is characterized by a lyrical note.
