Zorn – the Master etcher

Anders Zorn is one of the most famous Swedish artists and was so even during his lifetime. He was a master of several techniques and etching was one of them. He created more than 280 motifs – some from existing paintings and others just as etchings. The theme auction presented at Bukowskis are from a large private collection in the Netherlands and can offer some unusual motifs. One of the lots present a unique opportunity to acquire the very rare ”Maternal Delight I”. We do not know how rare this etching is but in the literature it is stated as such, ”rare”, and has only been offered att Bukowskis on one or two occasions but not during the last 30 years. ”Maternal Delight I” is an example of a motif that was executed in watercolour and exists in two other etched versions.
