Oiva Toikka

Professor Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest masters of Finnish design. He has won several prestigious awards including the Kaj Franck Design Prize and the Prince Eugen Medal. In 1993, Toikka was given the honorary title of Professor of the Arts by the state of Finland. He is most well known for his Birds by Toikka series, which popularity is ever increasing. Every bird is unique and individually mouth-blown at the factory in Iittala by master glassblowers. The birds are the results of immense skill, a fusion of glassblowing traditions and Toikka's keen understanding of his employee's skills.
