Hired by Kalevala Koru as a designer in 1956, the first design commission of Börje Rajalin was to search the collections of the National Museum in Helsinki for a model of a golden bracelet. Rajalin selected the Viking-age golden hoop found in the village of Metsäpirtti in Karelia. In addition to the bracelet, Rajalin also designed a ring that remains one of the oldest pieces of jewelry in Kalevala koru's current collection.
