Maps

Maps have fascinated and helped humanity find its way out into the world for millennia. "The Imago Mundi" so-called The Babylonian map of the world is considered to be the oldest surviving world map. Dated approx. 700-500 BC, it can be viewed at the British Museum in London. In this theme auction, there are no such old maps but it is possible to botanize among maps from the 16th-19th centuries. Here you can find, among other things, maps of small specific areas to world maps. Many maps are incredibly detailed and beautiful, the details of which almost become a work of art in themselves. The map's place in the home has changed from being one of the most precious things to being merely decorative. The reason for that is most likely that lands and dominions have changed. So to be something only for the wealthy there is a map in every man's hand today, via our phones. An old map is like a frozen historical image and can tell an incredibly exciting story. So why not try something new with something old, like traveling from your sofa or armchair in a historical landscape with an antique map. We welcome you to take part in a bygone world.
